What to Expect at an Appointment

During a root canal procedure, the dentist will numb your tooth and the surrounding gum tissue with a local anesthetic. A very fine instrument is used to remove the infected pulp from the tooth which is then filled and sealed. The dentist will then use a filling or, in some cases a crown, to restore the tooth to its original appearance.
